I have decided to start a new segment as a way to "introduce" the new creative element to this blog, named Musical Interests as the title has shown. Since I have been listening, reading, writing, and exploring so much content in the musical and poetic world, I thought I should share some of the "gems" I stumble across, sometimes well known or sometimes not. Let's talk music!
According to Tom is my blog, simply a place where I can write about the things that interest me and are going on in my life. I'll cover things like music, food, reading, writing, health and fitness, or just talk about what I think is worth talking about! Hope you enjoy, and make sure to subscribe to see when I post.

An Artsy Side to Things
Howdy y`all?
Okay, perhaps that is a little too hick for my personality, but I'm just writing a quick post as a little "informative" piece on what is happening and what is soon to come (no need to be too serious). I don't necessarily want to go on a rant about what is going on in my personal life and such, but rather what I have planned for this blog in the near future. I know I posted a while back about the whole "zen habits" ideology and how "less is more", and have since cut down on the amount of clutter this blog has (as well as the clutter of other areas, such as my room). This post is regarding a similar idea...Change!

I Won't Give Up - Fingerstyle Guitar

Coldplay The Scientist Fingerstyle Guitar
Finished my third video now that exams are over and I found some more free time. Playing The Scientist by Coldplay, one of my favorite songs of all time and of Coldplay. It was a tough song to learn, especially the percussive bit to it. Also decided to change the colors to mix things up a bit. Hope it sounds good!

Ed Sheeran A Team Fingerstyle Cover - Tom Blake
My second video!!!! This one was really difficult to record. I kept running into recording issues, but it is finally done! The video quality is also way better than MGMT Kids. Hope it sounds good! All credit goes to Kelly Valleau for the tab.

My First Guitar Video!!!
So I finally started my guitar YouTube channel. Just played MGMT kids, kinda a simple one to start off the channel with. I will be playing better songs in the near future. Hope this one sounds good.

Sungha Jung - Biggest Inspiration
So about a year and a half ago I stumbled across the guitar player Sungha Jung on YouTube, stumbled not really a good word considering his multi million views per video. Anyways, he plays fingerstyle guitar, and is amazing at it! And, he is only sixteen and knows the theory to compose and arrange his own music and tours worldwide, so in short, being the same age I am very jealous. Regardless however, he has still inspired me more than any other guitarist, and I have been working for the last year and a half primarily on his songs (learning them or at least trying to).
*sigh* he is too good. But, hopefully one day I can at least sort of play his music. I actually plan on starting my own guitar YouTube channel in the following weeks (once I can buy a good microphone to record the sound), so perhaps I can get my own little share of the guitar YouTuber market. I can only dream!

My inspirations
After some more thought, I decided that this section of my blog will be dedicated primarily to what music, musicians, and artists inspire and amaze me, along with stuff I simply enjoy. Considering that guitar is one of my favourite hobbies and passions, a large section of this page will be dedicated to guitar, so if you are a guitar player yourself this should definitely be an interesting page! Stick around!
