Craving Fixes - Peanut Butter Chocolate Oatmeal

Not having food in the house really does cause creativity. Well, perhaps I am being dramatic (we have some food), but the general point is as pantry levels drop, snacking desperation and forced ingenuity seem to increase. But what does one do if a craving strikes? Fat and sugar are things that our body loves, and it is hard to trick our brain into thinking it is having what it really wants.

In the case of the classic chocolate-peanut butter craving, which is perhaps the most merciless of all cravings and usually insatiable, I discovered a decent solution the other day before I was about to resort to eating peanut butter right out of the jar. The answer: OATMEAL! Food of the Gods! (Well not really, oatmeal is generally pretty disgusting in my opinion...just not this time). The following is a simple, quick, yet tasty trick to fix the chocolate-peanut butter craving.

Ingredients:

• Peanut Butter (chunky, smooth, whipped, whatever!)
• Cocoa Powder (as fine as possible, cocaine grade preferably...That chocolate has gotta be a quality product).
• Honey
• Instant Oatmeal Mix (the one you microwave with milk or water)

Now before I describe the steps, I'm not trying to just write a quick blog post just for the sake of making one, and this isn't some random idea for a blog post that I'm just writing about because it's the only thing I can think of. Yes, you just make the oatmeal in the microwave and then mix in a tablespoon of peanut butter, a half teaspoon of cocoa powder, and then sweeten the thing with as much honey as you deem necessary. I understand it sounds lame and like it won't work, but if you think about it, you're mixing exactly what you want into some sort of a base that can hold it. Don't like oatmeal? Fine, slather a slice of bread or something with the same stuff,   ...whatever you want (I hope it turns out miserably so you will learn to trust me!). 

And yet I do realize that this specific post is a bit unorganized and poor. There aren't pictures because I am trying to learn the art of taking good food pictures and my current ones are atrocious, and the description is lackluster. But my hands are feeling better, and more writing is underway! The next blog posts will be of a higher quality, and the next craving fix (which is a new segment thingy) will be of something more substantial than oatmeal mixed with a few ingredients. Anyway, at least it is something!
